Hospitality is abundant in Italy.
Two years ago we had the best day with our driver Gianpiero on a trip exploring the Amalfi Coast. As he drove us around his stomping grounds he shared about the family's garden. We asked many questions and before we knew it, Gianpiero is giving us a tour of his family's estate. His sweet mother was not anticipating our arrival and after a quick rebuke in Italian, she switched gears into a lovely hostess. We were invited into the home and were offered fresh homemade limoncello along with homemade biscotti. Gianpiero's mother didn't understand any English and we don't speak Italian, but we had a way of connecting. By the end of our visit we share hugs and kisses were told that we were always welcome in their home, should we return. It truly was an experience that I'll never forget.
When you travel, do you take time to get to know the locals? Do you want to get off the beaten path to explore and discover the non-touristy areas as well as the touristy ones?
At Roy Travel Co. we diligently try to seek out partnerships that offer tours and excursions that are a notch above. We want our clients to return with amazing experiences with memories like these.
BTW, I was also gifted with the family's limoncello recipe. Yet another bonus.
